Homemade sand art project for Valentine's

We were in the craft store the other day and "J" saw these cute plastic heart sand containers and asked could we get some for grandparent gifts. So we did. They were $1.00 each.

Then when we got home we made some fun scented sand and the kids made some fun sand art projects.

Materials:
Salt (1 used 2 26 oz containers) less than $1.00 for both
Kool-aid packet (strawberry and pink lemonade)
2-3 tsp of water for each color.....you don't want it too wet.
Plastic sand art container or you can use a recycled water bottle with lid

How to make:
1.Mix all 3 ingredients together
2.After I mixed it up I placed in the oven @ 350 degrees on a cookie sheet for 15-20 minutes to get the colored salt to dry like sand.
3. You want to check on the sand and stir it up a couple times while in the oven.

This is a great craft for kid parties, play dates, make to give someone or just for fun. Plus it is super inexpensive. The salt sand cost less than $1.00 to make.

Here are some other Valentine's craft you might like to try as well.

Thanks for stopping by to see what fun stuff we are doing. Be sure to come follow us on
